Low Holding Vacuum Vacuum Head Check
- Hand screw on the V803: 3" chuck or V806: 6" vacuum
chuck head
- Place a non porous surface on the head - check holding
vacuum above 20” Hg.
1. Put included Spindle washer in place before hand
screwing vacuum head onto spindle.
-
Spindle washer helps provide additional vacuum
seal.
2. Check that Vacuum Head is screwed all the way
on.
-
The Hold Fast vacuum head adapters are precision
made but some lathe spindles are not and are oversized.
-
If the Hold Fast vacuum chuck head will not hand screw all the way down
either the spindle threads need to be chased or the adapter needs to be
rethreaded.
-
Many professional woodturning stores have this
equipment or we will rethread the Vacuum Chuck threads for you.
-
If there is too much play in the threads
(spindle undersized) Teflon tape may elevate leakage.
3. Check Head Seals
-
Check the two vacuum head seals for damage and
replace if necessary.
-
If replacing seal use Stick Tac pressure
adhesive or similar to allow for future replacement.
